Mimicry and Camouflage Oral Presentation
Students will research an assigned animal(s) and present their findings to the class. For animals who display mimicry, students will dramatize or otherwise show the adaptation. For animals who display camouflage, props or costumes may be used to show the adaptation. A graphic organizer (T-chart, Venn diagram, etc.) must be turned in at the time of your presentation.

NEWSPAPER ARTICLE: The Fall of Rome
For this assignment, you will write a newspaper article that addresses one of the factors that led to the fall of the Roman Empire. Your article may be in the style of an editorial (supporting your opinion), news (facts only), or feature (advice column, Roman celebrity gossip, etc.). Regardless of the style you choose, your article must address all five "Ws:" who, what, where, when, and why. In addition, your article must have a headline and illustration with caption.

Design Your Own City: Map project
You will create a map of your own city, using the same urban planning techniques of the ancient Romans: parallel and perpendicular streets, a public gathering area (park or forum), and buildings for specific purposes (business, government, housing). Be creative! Your city can be ancient, futuristic, or modern-day. There can buildings dedicated to video game playing, movie-watching, or hair-washing! Remember, the emphasis is on PLANNING. The Romans were very organized and designed their cities with purpose.

Ancient Rome: Journal Entries
Write three journal entries: in the first, you will describe yourself and your life as a member of one of the three social classes of ancient Rome (patrician, plebeian, or slave). For the second and third entries, you will write about the other two social classes and your feelings toward them. Each entry must be at least ten sentences in length and include at least five facts about each of the social classes (refer to the information sheets handed out during class).
