Students will be building a terrarium using the guidelines I have given them. They will also be creating a small trifold poster that explains how the water cycle and carbon cycle are represented in their terrarium, as well as how humans could cause a disruption in these cycles.

Students will be completing a web quest where they will explore the symptoms of ergot poisoning. Student will have to research this fungal infection and then complete the associated activities

3 rubric Is Use of Stem Cells in Research Ethical?       popup preview  
Students will research the ethical use of unused human embryos in research. Students must supply 4 reasons for and against use of human embryos in research designed to cure human diseases, giving 2 litigious or religious citations in support of each position. Students will focus on assigned human disease wishing to utilize such research, identifying the population subunit affected and how the disease impacts the human body. Lastly students will take a stance on whether use of human stem cells should be used in current research for the given disease. Students will be expected to write a formal research paper as well as create a model of the body organ affected by their assigned disease.

Students are to model their ecosystem. The model should include appropriate living and non-living organisms present. The paper should include an appropriate description of their ecosystem including the climate, what living and non-living organisms are present, how the living organisms meet their needs for survival, and example of a food chain or web that exists in this environment, what types of changes could take place, what those changes could do to the populations within that ecosystem, and what microbes might be present that may drastically effect the ecosystem.
