U.S. Symbols & Landmarks
The goal of this lesson is to help the students recognize and understand the significance of important symbolic landmarks that represent freedom in our country, the United States.

Children of the Holocaust Hidden Diary Project
Students assume the role of one child who has been placed first into a ghetto and then into one of the concentration camps. Students will create a hidden diary of what it was like to live through the Holocaust as a child. They will meet and make a friend during this terrible journey. By exploring the experiences of others' students will be able to construct their own understanding of the Holocaust.

My Favorite Things Survey & Graph
This collaborative project where students positively share opinions, compare differences, and to collect and display data – while providing instant real-time feedback. Students collaborate by posting their favorite foods (etc.) on a wiki. Using this data, students will create an online survey to poll classmates, other student body, faculty and parents about their favorite foods. Students will be able to view the poll’s daily progress as more people add votes. Once the poll closes, students will choose three (3) foods to graph. Students will edit, format and print two graphs.

Virginia Regions
Through this project, students have the opportunity to understand, identify, and promote the regions of Virginia. Students will take a virtual fieldtrip using bookmarked websites and collect research information on an organization chart. To test their knowledge and to learn more about a specific Virginia region, students will collaborate with another diocesan school by participating in a “Mystery Skype” video conference session. Students may ask “yes” or “no” questions to determine region. In culmination, students will create a travel brochure for the state of Virginia.

Ancient Egypt Photo Story Travelogue Rubric
The student will take a virtual cruise down the beautiful and historic Nile River. SWBAT conduct online research to learn about the Lower/Upper Nubia and Lower/Upper Egypt areas. SWBAT design a Photo Story 3 travelogue video enticing others to visit.

The First Americans - Voice Thread
Students will work in groups, each with a focus on one early First American culture.
