4 rubric Subtractive Sculptures       popup preview
Students will learn about subtractive versus additive sculptures. They will receive a plaster and vermiculite mixture in a small ziplock bag which they will shape and let dry overnight. After removing the hardened substance, they will look at it from all sides to decide what kind of subject they will make. Using a plastic knife, they will carve the block into either a realistic or abstract form that can be viewed from all sides and results in a unified sculpture.
