The images must be original, either drawn or created with the assistance of computer design. The design is to be displayed on a poster board folded to resemble a book.

Photojournalism: Below are the criteria for a well-planned and designed Business Card, Letterhead, Envelope and Brochure. The program used is InDesign/photoshop.

Students will create personal logos. Logos should be decipherable (clear), memorable, meaningful (reasonable explanation of logo), neat and simple.

Reproduce a Magazine layout on a 8.5" x 11' page. Your image must replace the model on the cover. Be aware of the resolution of the images. You must show evidence that learning the Indesign software has taken place. The layout end result should look just like the original. All copy, text and images should look like the orginal--your layout COULD replace the original.

Create a magazine layout that you could find in your chosen magazine. Must have copy, headlines, pictures/illustrations, page numbers and look like it is straight from your choose magazine.

In Indesign, design an event poster based your local event. Print size of 11"x17". This is to be a 4 color CMYK. Art should fit the feel of event, yet original. Headline and copy should be informative and tell pertinent details/times of the event. Take the opportunity to rearrange placement and change colors/fonts and other typographical elements to take better advantage of design principles. Students must save in the correct Indesign format, & package the document for print.

Create a magazine cover that looks like a real magazine. Choose the title of the publication. Then, be sure you include a title, your personal photo(s), headline articles, dateline and follow a monthly theme. Be creative and make the finished product look as professional as possible. Be aware of the marketability and audience appeal of your magazine. Follow all your desktop publishing guidelines using Photoshop. The final project must be a PDF document.

A History of Serif Fonts. Create a well designed poster explaining the differences between the tree main categories of serif fonts: Old Style, Transitional and Modern. Include samples of the different fonts, facts, history and other tidbits. Your poster should focus on good layout, readability and appeal to ALL audiences.
