Lines and Shading Skills

After reading the article and conducting independent research on populism, students will create a drawing expressing their take on how this phenomenon has influenced their world. Photoshop: line drawings
Students will transform their photograph to a line drawing. Adding "coloring" to finish the transformation into a living coloring page. To complete the piece, students will also transform items/objects in the background that relate to them personally. Applying the same technique to finish work

Slab Building
Students create their own unique slice of cake boxes slab They will utilize and put to practice the techniques from previous lessons: coil, slab, score, slip and relief. The details should be creative and ideas we see in real-life cake slices (icing, icing piping, layers,etc.)

Illustrator: Company Prototype
In Adobe Illustrator, develop & design a product and logo for an elite shoe company. The vector art should be similar to the logo and concept for the company that the student has chosen, yet be creative and original.Students must save the design in the correct file format and place. Don't forget your celebrity endorser!!

Photo Restoration with PS
Students will select 4 worn photographs (wrinkles, rips, fading, etc.) to restore using the clone tool in PhotoShop. Students will need to color match the coordinating areas to "fix" the photo and restore it to new. (Optional turning B/W to color)

Steampunk Insects
Students will study insects and the Victorian Era to create a Steampunk insect. They will be using mechanical, plastics and metal objects with wire to make a 3D bug that can stand alone. Focus will include form, texture, balance and unity.

O'Keeffe inspired Extreme Close-ups
Refined cropping to create an interesting section of a fruit or flower. You will be working large scale to recreate an interesting section of the image you select. Introduction to Adobe Illustrator
For starters you will learn how to setup a simple grid and how to create a a bunch of pixel perfect shape that will help you create the main logo shape. Using basic masking, blending and vector shape building techniques you will learn how to add some subtle highlights and texture. Taking full advantage of the Appearance panel you will learn how to add color, shading and more texture for your background and the logo shape. Finally, you will learn how to add several, tiny, glowing spots
