An assessment tool designed to assess a daily classroom performance grade in general music classes.

Student will demonstrate music theory knowledge: Language of music. Students will demonstrate knowledge: Dynamics and Tempo Markings

Practical elements and applications of the guiding principles behind the composition of music in the Euro-American tradition. Areas of study include: notation, intervals, diatonic chords, seventh chords, functional harmony, cadences, secondary dominants, voice leading, higher extension chords, form, stylistic elements, ear training, harmonic analysis. Assignments will include mastery level exercises for basic knowledge, writing compositions of various lengths and styles, analysis of provided music, ongoing ear training using computer program and in-class exercises

You will create an creative way of presenting a detailed analysis of a music theory topic. The video must be at least 3-5min in length and must have a minimum of three sources.

The following rubric is a checklist for your current singing skills. During class you will sing an excerpt from a song from our repertoire. You will be expected to sing with pitch and rhythmic accuracy, good projection, clear articulation, proper tone quality and creative expression.

Students demonstrate their ability to play the piano/keyboard using repertoire of various styles, genres, and degrees of difficulty.

Students will successfully describe and apply the steps involved in knowing the staff, treble clef sign, note names and leger lines between Middle C and the C on the second leger line above the staff.
