This rubric describes your participation, effort and success in recorder playing

The Task: Students were given a writing rhythms worksheet. They were previously instructed that counting rhythms involved counting beats. The worksheet had 2 beats in each measure. Students were to complete their own composition using the notation provided. The 3 notation symbols all equaled one count a piece. Students were to fill each measure up with 2 beats using only quarter notes, eighth notes, or quarter rests.

Students will construct and present a homemade musical instrument from recycled materials. They will be required to play a simple song on their instrument.

TSW will listen to excerpts from different musical selections and will be able to identify Aurally the lead instrument. TSW correctly categorize individual instruments by family. TSW correctly categorize world instruments by the world instrument category name.

Students will use common rhythms and simple melodic gestures to compose a tongue twister in the time signature and key signature od their choice. Students will have numerous class periods to complete the assignment before performing it for a grade.
