Then and Now
In Social Studies and Literacy class, KM9 is learning about how things and people change thru time. After reading different fiction and nonfiction books about then and now, student's thought about how they have changed from the first day of kindergarten until now. One thing they noticed was that they have all lost at least one tooth throughout this time. CCLS Standard W.K.3

Weather Shapes
Children tracked the weather to see which of their favorite weather occurred more frequently in the month of February. Then they made a shape model and described their favorite type of weather.

After visiting the farm, students were asked to match the farm animals with their home on the farm. They then were asked to complete the story pattern.

Number Story Rubric
This rubric is a summative assessment of a beginning number sense unit in a Kindergarten classroom. It focuses on students' understanding, representation, and communication of solving number stories. Given a story problem, the student will choose the appropriate process, use manipulatives to illustrate reasoning, and explain the solution using math language.

Students will use what they have learned in class about the properties of solids, liquids, and gases . Students are to create a poster presenting examples of solids, liquids, and gases can be measured.

Our "Me" Flags
Students were asked to create a flag that represents them. While learning about patriotism and the American Flag, the students learned about how the different parts of the flag have symbolic meaning. Using this knowledge, they were required to add different components that are symbolic of them in a certain way.

Our Favorite Weather Shapes
In science and literacy, students are learning about weather changes and forecasting. After monitoring the weather for a few weeks, student's picked their favorite weather and illustrated it using pattern blocks from math class. They were then asked to write a sentence to identify their shape model and describe their opinion. K.G.A.2 Correctly name shapes regardless of their orientations or overall size. K.G.B.5 Model shapes in the world by building shapes from components and drawing shapes.
