Using Dale Chihuly's macchias as an inspiration to our coffer filter sculpture.

Kandinsky Concentric Ring Trees
After studying Kandinsky's work, the students create abstract trees inspired by his most famous piece "squares with concentric rings". Cut out trees, paper mached the trunks with horizontal lined news paper (to create another element Kandinsky was fond of), cut out different sized circles and glued them together to create the concentric rings.

Season lanscapes - 3rd Grade
The students will use their creativity to design landscape representing the season they have been given. They will use their knowledge of fore, middle, and back ground and objects to scale. They will make a crayon resist by outlining all objects with crayon and color with liquid watercolor paints.

Pattern Rubric
Students will identify, create, extend, and transfer patterns from one representation to another using actions, objects, and geometric shapes. a. Identify a missing shape within a given pattern of geometric shapes. b. Extend a given pattern, and recognize similarities (such as color, shape, texture, or number) in different patterns.

To have the opportunity to go beyond the immediate lesson and apply artistic creativity, or learn more and have an appreciation about M. C. Escher, his art. Use elements and principles of design - color, balance, repetition/pattern. To follow precise, multi-step directions.

Georgia O'Keeffe Abstract Flower using oil Pastels
After studying Georgia O'Keeffe's flowers, the students zoomed into an interested place on their flower references. We did a small grid drawing labeling the shapes with their corresponding colors. The grid drawing was transferred on to larger paper and then colored with oil pastels.

Mouse Paint Mixing Colors
Using the book "Mouse Paint" to introduce primary and secondary colors. Used primary colors to create secondary colors on a mouse worksheet. The colored mice were cut out and glue into a color wheel using the correct color wheel order.

Van Gogh Parody
Using one of Van Gogh's masterpieces (Starry Night, Sunflowers, The Bedroom, or Self Portrait), students will create a parody. While creating their parody they will still be using the personal style of Van Gogh.

Fish Drawings and Painting
Draw 2 or more sketches of fish. Observe pictures or real fish to include realistic detail. Complete a final drawing on watercolour paper. Use water colours to paint drawing. Mix and apply colours using a variety techniques. Use a pen or marker to outline some details, after the painting is dry.
