Time line of America's Iconic Images

Teaching groups will be given a short story from the unit. Teaching groups will produce a lesson, complete with presentation, an exciting activity, a visual aide and an informative worksheet. Each group will be presenting to a younger age group who is studying in the same field.

Rubric for Comparing-Contrasting Elements from Poems

Turn the play A Man for All Seasons into a graphic novel, correctly using graphic novel formatting, spelling, and punctuation. The main focus should be on the sequencing of the information presented. Illustrations, while not graded for perfection, should be whole heartedly attempted, showing attention to expression.

To demonstrate how well you can use the graphic novel terms, concepts and devices we’ve discussed this semester to tell your own meaningful, autobiographical story in the form of a graphic novel.

Using magazine photos, newspaper pictures, images from the computer or hand drawn images create a collage of images that symbolize an important theme in a short story. On a separate sheet of paper, explain the meaning of your collage and how it illustrates a theme from the book.

This rubric will be used to tell you how you will be graded on keeping a notebook of all the work you do in class. You must keep a notebook of work you do during literature circles. This Rubric will assess how completely and efficiently you have kept your assignments, as well as how well the work has been done.

Create a board game based on a short story of your choosing which contains themes comparable to the novels being read in class. Directions for the game should be included, as well packaging that presents the game.

One partner will be the designated teller; the other will be the sound-effects provider. Effects should represent mood of piece, and may represent the period or not. It should be creative. The sound effects provider must also present a one minute explanation of why the partnership chose to present as they did, including choice of sound effects. During the performance, the teller must speak from memory, though improvisation is allowed and encouraged. You are preparing for presentation tomorrow.
