OBJECTIVE: Students will create and illustrate fractions. . Understand a fraction 1/b as the quantity formed by 1 part when a whole is partitioned into b equal parts; understand a fraction a/b as the quantity formed by a parts of size 1/b.

Students will create a fraction project using pizza menus given in class as well as knowledge of adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions.

Assess knowledge of 2D and 3D shapes, positional terms and counting of sides and corners.

For this activity, students will write a poem based on two fractions that they pull from two different fishbowls. Students will demonstrate their knowlegde of converting improper fractions and mixed numbers, comparing and ordering fractions, adding/subtracting them, and simplifying and finding equivalents. This will take about 6 days to complete. On day 6, students will read their poems to the class in a "coffee shop" fashion.
