With this assignment, the students need to evaluate one article from a professional journal. The critique should be approximately 4-7 pages long (not including a cover page or the attached article). The other sources can be from any journals, and your text MUST be one of your cited sources. Newspapers and web sites are not acceptable. This critique should be written according to APA formatting guidelines. Further specifics on what is required can be found in the syllabus.

Students must sit-in or partake in a counseling session of desired choice at the Universities Counseling and Career Development Center. Student must also write a brief summary detailing the situation: reason why you sought therapy, what you felt during the session, and so forth

Find a fictional character from a movie, book, TV show, or other popular culture media that meets criteria for one or more psychological disorders in the DSM-IV-TR. Using this character, write a 3-4 page paper that discusses the following information: 1. A brief biography of the character 2. A current picture of what is going on in the character's life 3. The symptoms the character is exhibiting 4. The DSM-IV-TR diagnoses that have criteria met from these symptoms; or the ones that are not met and what is missing from the symptoms presented (e.g. subclinical; NOS; V codes) 5. Five Axis diagnosis

Students will apply counseling theories in a mock counseling session.
