Students write their own lyrics, based off the melody of an existing song or newly written melody.

Summer Reading Assignment: Students had to keep a literary response journal of 2 journal entries per chapter. Students had a choice of 20 response questions/scenarios.

This rubric is designed to assess any student presentation related to a researched topic.

Students chose a book to read independently and then review. The review incorporates information about the book's characters, setting, plot, genre, theme, and writing style.

You will be put into groups and asked to create a short role play based on your assigned scenario. After creating a short role play, your group will then perform your role play to a class.

Aesthetics

Write an ode about your favorite food . Incorporate the elements of poetry we discussed in class. Include at least 1 example of figurative language: metaphor, simile, idiom, personification, imagery, onomatopoeia, and alliteration, etc. Grammar should be used correctly; if you use slang, the grammar should be appropriate for the topic.

Performance of Drama for English Class

Students will memorize and recite a particular poem to their peers. They will analyze it in an essay form

The students will work in groups and will performed a story written by them or a story found in the "Literature for Composition" book. The story must be narrated and performed. Each member must appear in the short film, which should be no longer than 25 minutes. The topics in which the stories should be around are, mystery, detective, suspense, or narratives.

Students will create a song, poem or rap in which they give their explanation of what is wrong with the education system today.

Create a magazine cover that looks like a real magazine. Choose the title of the publication. Then, be sure you include a title, photos, headline articles, dateline and follow a monthly theme. Be creative and make the finished product look as professional as possible. Be aware of the marketability and audience appeal of your magazine. Follow all your desktop publishing guidelines using InDesign and Photoshop. The final project must be an Indesign document.

Students will demonstrate their knowledge of paragraph organization by writing a 5-paragraph essay utilizing the writing process of planning, organizing, writing, evaluating and revising.

This is an assessment of a reading portfolio that students will have created over the entire semester. The rubric will be used twice:once during the mid term and then again as a final rubric.
