1 rubric Skinny Strips Assignment 2011       popup preview  
A skinny strip is a piece of bristol board paper about three feet long. Divide it into as many sections as there are chapters in your book or group chapters together to fit on your strip in an organized way, plus one. The first section is for the title, author, and your own name as the reteller. The remaining sections are designated, one per chapter. You should have a small picture in each section, and add a few sentences about the chapter or chapters or sections. You should describe the section of your book using vivid and/or figurative language and innovative expressions to add interest(e.g. some comparative adjectives; similes or personification; comparative adverbs taught in class: ie. more slowly Take it one step further you can make a slit in shoebox and decorate it to look like a T.V. You can run the skinny strip through one frame at a time.

Working in groups of four, students will work collaboratively on a presentation to the class based on a particular benefit to society that was derived from the space program. Each group will prepare an 8 to 10 minute presentation to the class on their topic. Each group presentation shall include a tri-fold poster prepared by the group illustrating the group’s particular benefit to society derived from the space program.
