Furniture Hack Design Rubric
Students will design a functional piece of classroom furniture. They will identify the materials they would use to make the furniture and why they would use those materials. They will create blueprints to scale. They are encouraged to create a working mock-up version of the furniture piece using any materials they can find. Services are available through: HUD, VA, FHA, EPA, ADA, CPSC, building codes, zoning regulations. Student will explain these in a brief but complete way for people with a need to know. Brochure

Obj. 3.0 - Obj. 7.0 Design Team Diorama Competition
Each class chooses ONE house style & theme. Ex: Block 1 chooses a Log cabin & rustic/mountain vacation lifestyle/theme. Each table group in each class will design one room out of their house. E&P of Design will used effectively in the house design. All sub groups use a printer box bottom for their rooms. A class label to convey the house style included. Gen. Student will create a unique Elements of Design Collage with obvious theme or design using large color construction paper, magazines, material/fabric, "recyclable" materials, scissors, and Elmer's glue. No tape is allowed. Rubric stapled to project for grading. Go for a "masterpiece"!

TL Obj. 13 Managing Living Spaces
Student chooses an area within their dwelling to reorganize or organize. A before and after photo is required. Areas suggested are: bedroom closet, linen closet, pantry, garage, etc. Student is to make the best use of the space & problem solve. Results include Before & After photo. Share with class.

TL Obj. 7.0 Dietary Choices: FAV FOOD PRODUCT LABELS CHART
Student designs a chart with their top ten favorite food products or snack products (ex: Lipton package rice, Nacho chips). for each product they will gain valuable info as to their consumption, quality of consumption (or not), and how to read product labels. Student will critique their information (in written form) and share if teacher includes presentation aspect of assignment.

Window Coverings Rubric
Student will use a 8X10 or 9X10 picture frame as a foundation for window coverings assignment. If student wants to reuse the frame they will need to neatly tape their project in place so as not to damage the frame. Best: use a "ready to discard" frame & recycle. Then use glue gun, etc. as needed. Along with this, a sketch (using a straight edge) of a double hung window which is correctly labeled, must be turned in to complete project. The "covering" itself may be for a different type window. Ex: bay window. The more creative, the better.
