Students are given a large piece of paper which is placed on an easel. Students are to paint and create an artistic picture while listening to 'Carnival of the Animals' by Saint Saens.

Students are grouped into pairs by the teacher. One student pretends to be a famous Romantic composer. The other student pretends to be a well known radio/television host who is interested in asking questions to the Romantic Composer. Students are to use their imaginations and create either a radio interview or television interview which can be five to eight minutes in duration.

Recording sounds from nature. Students are grouped into pairs by the teacher. Students will take their recording devices (mobile phones, laptops, recorders) outside to record sounds of birds, and other sounds. Students will then create a piece mixing their chosen section of Romantic music of either ‘Carnival of the Animals’ by Saint Saens or ‘The Planets’ by Gustav Holst, with their own recorded sounds. (5 minutes duration)
