Students will create a one-page illustration of their family tree, using pictures of their family and labeling family members as indicated by rubric (family label). Your family tree will include at least 4 family members and one (of course) can be a pet! Also, one picture and description will be of you! You will introduce yourself and describe all the members of your family tree, providing name and age to the class (in Spanish, of course).

You and a classmate will be taking a trip to an assigned Spanish speaking country. Like any good tourist, you must prepare yourself before you visit in order to get the most from your trip! You will need to research your country to learn about the culture, weather & climate, currency of the country, religion, foods, housing, famous landmarks and government. I also want to know what a round trip ticket would cost from Texas. Include all travel documents you will need to travel to that country as well. Divide up the work with your partner to complete Part 1 (RESEARCH & FORMAT), Part 2 (DRAW IT!) - Map & Flag and Part 3 (Oral Presentation) - Speaking & Culture

4 rubric Spanish Food Project Restaurant Skit       popup preview  
Students will prepare a skit about ordering in a restaurant using the frases and vocabulary from Unidad 4-Capítulo 2.1. Meseros will be High School Students. Each cliente(Our students, YOU) must 1. Order: a. Una bebida b. Un aperitivo c. Un plato principal d. Un postre 2. Each cliente must ask the waiter for at least one thing he or she is missing during the skit (Perdón, me falta…) 3. Each cliente must comment on how the food tastes at least once 4. All actors need to use words like con permiso (if you need to move from the table), por favor (Pass something), gracias, de nada 5. Each person should talk about the same amount—no one person should dominate. 6. You may use no notes whatsoever. 7. You must act it out with enthusiasm—don’t bore us. 8. One cliente must ask the camarero for the check at the end 9. Everybody gives the Euros for the cost of their meal to the person who ask for the check. 10. HAVE FUN!

You are a journalist who works in a Food Magazine. Your magazine has assigned you to go to the Spanish speaking country of your choice and find out what the typical food of that country is. Your boss also tells you that when you are back you have to give a presentation to the other journalists. You have to create a PowerPoint presentation (6 slides) They must include at least one picture of the typical food as well as a detailed recipe on how to make a dish. Ooooops , do not forget to include where the country is located.

The objective of this activity is to have students practice using Formal commands. Students will design a Powerpoint presentation consisting of 12 slides. Ten slides will have a Formal command in Spanish and English. Students will add a graphic or photo to each slide. Finally, Students will present their Powerpoint orally in class. (I usually invite an administrator to come and sit in during the presentations.)

Include a full color & labeled map of the country of origin. #6. Include a picture of the food item at least a half page large. #7 . Bring in sample of food item to share and present information researched.
