After researching aspects of consumerism and advertising strategies, students are to develop a brand and "sell" a new candy they have developed.

Create a talk show and make 10 interview questions for the main character in the show. Ask a classmate to be the talk show host and you can be the main character. Answer the question as the character you selected.

The student will write a book report (700 words) on an approved favorite author. It will need to include the title, author, setting, favorite and least favorite parts. It will need to summarize the plot and talk about the main characters, as well as discussing any personal connections they made when reading this book. The report will be typed (font- size 12, font -Times New Roman, font color-black)

In your literature circle, perform a skit that portrays several scenes from "A Royal Princess".

You must create a 30 second commercial to perform in front of the class. You may use your classmates in the commercial if you like. The commercial must contain a sales pitch on why we should read your book. You must also complete the written mystery book report form.

Read an article from a print text. Write a summary of the reading, using the proper heading, proper grammar and punctuation, etc. in paragraph form. Include important points from the article and the main idea in the summary.

Students are to write a short story that demonstrates their understanding of the stages of plot and the characteristics of a short story.

Students will create a magazine advertisement using persuasive details and emotional appeals; complete with logo and word choice. Students also will provide a reflection, stating their emotional appeals and how the product came to be. Advertisement should be for a product not normally advertised to teens. Choose HOW you want to market it and WHO you want to sell it to. Decide how best you can persuade those buyers to purchase your product.
