Students are in charge of developing a tattoo to allow the world to know about positive body image. Centerpiece of tattoo must be a representative of one of the Turtle Island tribes we have been studying. It must represent a positive image. The surrounding artwork (minimum 5 color) must portray a positive body image. Suitable for all ages. Must be accompanied by a three (3) page paragraph explaining the artwork and uses at least four (4) vocabulary words from the class.

Students learn about Native American symbols and then make a petroglyph necklace by molding Model Magic into a small rock shape, poking a hole in the top with a paper clip, drawing a Native Am. symbol on it with a felt tip pen, and then painting it with a thin wash of watercolor paint. Then they string it with raffia to make a necklace

The purpose of this unit is to facilitate student learning about the world in which we live. The student will create a power point to present their chosen Native Culture. The student will use technology to conduct internet research in order to be able to present facts about their chosen culture's resources, self government or lack of,spirituality, geography, political atmosphere, social events, recreational pastimes, history, economics, etc. After the student has gathered all of the research, they will synthesize the information and develop a presentation about theirculture.
