Plensa Tolerance Bust
Students studied the sculpture of Plensa and discussed words that mean acceptance and tolerance. They created an armature of newspaper on a block and formed a head, paper mached the head, painted it, then "tattooed" the head with words to represent acceptance and respect.

Grid Self-Portrait Visiting a NC Landmark
Student will enlarge a small photo of themselves using the grid method. Portrait will be in chalk pastel, or pencil using Chuck Close as inspiration

iPad Painting
Students studied Pop Art. After understanding Pop Art and how popular images were used they took photos of themselves or an object and altered the image using various apps on iPads. Students then painted an image using the altered photographs as inspiration.

Students learned how to graph functions on a coordinate grid then after viewing and discussing linear abstract art students painted their function on canvas panels using acrylic paint.
