Written Book Report Rubric
This book report will contain multiple paragraphs and will be limited to one page. Student name, date and block should appear in upper right corner of the page. First: The report should include the title and author of the book and a complete description of the main characters. Second: Descriptive Settings should be included (When and where did the story takes place?). Third: The main events should be included (What happened in the story?). Fourth: Why did you like or dislike the book? Fifth: Would you recommend this book to other fifth graders. Sixth: The report should include a summary of the author's overall message and/or the theme of the book. 4-EP, 3-SP, 2-LP, 1-PA

Critical Book Review
Students chose a book to read independently and then review. The review incorporates information about the book's characters, setting, theme, and the relation the student finds to his/her own context.

Book Report - Written Response to Independent Reading
The book report is broken up into three parts. The first is the study sheet which the reader is to fill out while they are reading. This will help the students construct their final project and is worth 40 points. The part of the assignment is the final project. The students can choose how they want to present their book. They are free to do whatever they want to do within school guideline and is worth 120 points. The final part of this assignment is the presentation and is worth 40 points. The grading scale is as follows: 200-180=A, 179-160=B, 159-140=C, 139-120=D, 119 and below=F.

Article review and analysis/application of knowledge
Familiarize yourselves with existing research and theoretical writings pertinent to your topic. Find the best empirical (data-based) article(s) or an assigned article that addresses this topic. Describe the article you reviewed, its methods and findings, strengths and weaknesses. Make recommendations for further refining research in this area, including concrete suggestions (e.g., additional theoretical considerations, highlighting relevance of specific variables or alternative measures for key constructs) for a possible replication and extension of the study you review.

Students will select educational articles from 3 professional education journasl using search strategies provided by TCC Librarian Kendall Reid.
