The students will research and put together a poster presentation about World War II. The presentation will contain information and pictures that the students collected regarding information about World War II. The oral presentation must be aligned with their information and pictures on their posters. In total, the student should have ten facts that will provide their classmates a better understanding of why World War II was fought, who was involved in the War, and what the effects of World War II were on the United States. Each of the ten facts should have at least one picture to represent it on the poster.

Using your personal experiences, you will create a timeline of your life. You must include at least 1 event per year. You will use several illustrations or photos to help identify these special events. Your timeline must be organized, neat and accurate.

Students to find three sources of information about a local event/person/location. All of the sources must be primary. A maximum of two sources can be electronic.

9 rubric Trail of Tears - Letter Home       popup preview  
Students will read and analyze historical documents pertaining to the event know as the Trail of Tears. Students will pretend they are a US soldier assigned to lead these people on their journey. Students will then write a detailed letter home to their famlies describing who was being moved, when and where they where being moved to, why they where forced off their homeland, the consequences of the Trail of Tears, and the overall treatment of the Native Americans. Students should include at least one specific event to illustrate the mistreatment of the natives during the journey westward. Students will also reflect on their understanding of the reading and their effort on the assessment (Letter).
