Character Diary Rubric: "Much Ado About Nothing"
The student will write five diary entries from their character's point of view. Entries span the entire book and showcase the character's hopes, dreams, problems, concerns, and frustrations.

Costume Design for "A Raisin in the Sun"
You are expected to design a costume, appropriate to character and time period, for four of the main characters of the play and write a supporting paragraph for each character explaining why you selected the costume. Also include one quote from the text for each character for further support. Options are: Mama (Lena), Beneatha, Walter, Ruth, Asagai, or George.

Set Design Model for "A Raisin in the Sun"
Students read "A Raisin in the Sun" to gather information about the set demands. Using this information, students design and create a 3D model of the set using a shoebox and art materials. Students are also expected to support their choices for the set design with at least five quotes from the play, along with a brief explanation as to why and what they selected to include in their design. 5=100%, 4=90-99%, 3=80-89%, 4=70-79%, 5=60-69%

Write a 5 paragraph descriptive essay about a character in To Kill a Mockingbird. Use the writing techniques we have studied in class, including vivid verbs, figurative language, and sensory details. In the first paragraph, start with a descriptive hook, give a focus (setting, protagonist, purpose) and decide how best to organize your description, using transitions to guide your reader through the next 4 paragraphs. Be sure to edit for spelling, grammar, mechanics and usage. Hand in rubric rough draft, peer edit and typed final draft.

Character Trait Analysis
Write a five paragraph analysis of a character from To Kill a Mockingbird using. You may use the character’s relationships, motivations, influences, or conflicts to support your charater's traits. Use textual evidence to support the explanation. Extend this element of the character and connect it to the plot. Scoring Essays
Score essay responses to capstone comprehensive examination. Rules: If appropriate to the task, all essay parts of the question will be scored in all four criteria. Accuracy, reasoning and problem solving will be summed over the number of essay question parts. If a criterion is not applicable (e.g. problem solving,) it will not be scored on that criterion and NA will be entered. Students must achieve ZxYx2 to pass the essay parts of the question, where Z is the number of essay parts in a question and Y is the number of applicable criteria and 2 is a proficient score. Communication will be considered separately. If a student is not proficient in communication on 3 of the 4 questions, the student may not pass the exam. Depending on the task, not all elements in each level of the criteria may be addressed.
