Students will write a feature article based outside resources. The resources must come from approved data bases or be approved my Ms. Buckley or Ms. Fundeling. Articles will demonstrate a clear understanding of the feature writing format and the ability to answer a question with supporting details. The article will be designed using codes and conventions of newspapers and/or magazines.

Students will narrate a personal memoir. The memoir should relate an event that had a substantial impact on the memoirist. The memoir must include effective use of dialogue, imagery, and a reflection, as well as a compelling lead paragraph and a memorable concluding paragraph.

Students are to create a timeline using by hand or using an online interactive timeline creator such as Capzles (capzles.com) concerning important events from their book. There should be no less than 10 events on the timeline. Students are to include either a picture, photo, video, or audio file for each event that they believe represents the event on their timeline. Each event is to have a brief explanation of its importance along with the picture.

8th grade research paper

Students were to write an essay using 2 articles as their base texts. They were to compare and contrast the two articles for information, objectivity/subjectivity, and to access which will be most helpful as background information for reading The Witch of Blackbird Pond.

Students will create a visual presentation for Downsiders, the assigned summer reading novel for 8th grade. They will use this visual piece as an aid in a small group presentation. The purpose of the presentation and visual piece is show the student's comprehension of the novel.
