Students are required to do a self-assessment of their overall health, including their physical, mental/emotional, & social health. They will critique their triangle & note where improvements can be made to create a healthy balance. In their written essay it should include goals, plans, and reflections for the future. The visual should represent YOU, it may have words or pictures to demonstrate your health. Either present, future or both. *Min of 5 pictures in each section.

Throughout history people have created images of themselves and displayed them on banners to express power and strength. Today, people wear T-shirts to display their group membership, favorite sports team, music group, values and beliefs. For this project you have to design a T-shirt that symbolizes or represents your self-esteem, values and personality. Here are some ideas that you can include, but are not limited to: What or who do you value most in life? What are things you do well? What would you like most to be remembered for? What do your friends and family really like about you? What do you like about yourself? What are some of your characterisitcs? Draw, use pictures or words, and be as creative as you can be. Make it colorful and fun. You can use the outline given to design your T-shirt. Example of size will be demonstrated. *You get an extra 5 points if you use an actual T-shirt for your design.

3 rubric Sexually Transmitted Disease Brochure       popup preview  
Students will work as a newspaper crew. The staff will meet and the editor will assign the stories to be reported on for the day. Reporters will gather information, photos, facts etc. and cooperatively organize all the information in a presentable newspaper or magazine. The following must be included: -A cover page -Table of Contents -Article 1: Overview of STI's -Article 2: Abstinence -Article 3: True Story -Article 4: Write an article on a viral STI, a parasitic STI, and bacterial STI. (What kind of infection is it? How can you contract it? What are the signs and symptoms? How can you treat it? And what are the dangers if left untreated?) - List at least two health resources for each category (local sites for counseling and health services, online web resources, hotlines) -Include two figures (ex. chart, statistics, crossword etc.) -Include all references used for your research project.

This project requires students to do a current self-assessment of their overall health, including their physical, mental/emotional, and social health. Taking their current health status into consideration, students will critique their triangle and note where improvements can be made to create a healthy balance. This guide should reflect the Health Triangle and include goals, plans, and reflections for the future on those plans. This assignment should include a written, in essay form, portion as well as a "triangle" visual. The visual should represent YOU, it may have words, pictures, etc to demonstrate your health. Either present, future or both. *See detailed handout on the project.

Create/design an anti-violence poster. The poster must include at least one statistic and one quote that has to do with the form of violence/abuse being addressed. A picture/drawing must also be included, a long with a help hotline. For example: If you are designing an anti-child abuse poster you must include a quote and statistic that correlates with child abuse (like the percentage of kids being abused or why child abuse is unacceptable). Then include a help-hotline for people to call incase they need help. Be creative and put you best foot forward.

Create a poster to educate your class about a specific drug. You must include: *The classification of the drug. *Its actual name and any known street names. *How it affects your body & mind (minimum of 5 long term effects and 5 short term effects)? *Where it is found and what it looks like? (Pictures, charts etc. should be included) *Three interesting facts that hasn't already been included(Example: its level of addictiveness, why anyone might want to take it, etc.) *In addition, a creative anti-drug slogan(a catchy title) is to be included. *A long with a local, state, and/or federal agency which can provide services for substance users that would like to get help. *Please include at least three references/sources (Where did you get your information from?)
