This Rubric relates to oral communication/presentation; that is a prepared, purposeful presentation designed to increase knowledge, to foster understanding, or to promote change in the listeners' attitudes, values, beliefs, or behaviors. This rubric is specifically designed to evaluate oral presentations of a single speaker at a time in live or video-recorded presentations. May include evaluation of accompanying PPTs, tangibles, etc.

Students will read and study concrete poems in order to create and develop their own poem.

Students imagine, design, and create their own mythological monster using any medium they choose. The monsters can be drawn on paper (one dimensional) or sculpted in clay or play doh. Project leads into myhology unit in reading.

Students will demonstrate their knowledge of paragraph organization by writing a 3-paragraph essay utilizing the writing process of planning, organizing, writing, evaluating and presenting the essay in relation to their reaction on the piece.

Students are to design a coat of arms which represents one of the feuding families (or one character). It is to contain symbols that represent said family or character. A paragraph is to be attached explaining meaning of symbols. The coat of arms is to be colored.

Students will create a song, poem or rap in which they include 10 of their vocabulary words. Vocab words will be UNDERLINED. We WILL read/perform these in class, so be prepared! HINT: If you choose 'song,' put it to a tune you already know!!!!!

After learning and identifying elements of poetry, students will develop and create a poetry book that includes the poems, literary terms, and poets' works studied in class.
