DAILY PROJECT ASSESSMENT FOR ART CLASS
THIS RUBRIC WILL SERVE TO MONITOR THE STUDENT'S WEEKLY PROGRESS ON LONG TERM PROJECTS (THOSE LASTING MORE THAN 2 WEEKS) ON THE CRITICAL CRITERIA.

Paper Mache Masks
Sixth and seventh graders created paper mache masks using Celluclay. Emphasis was placed on it having a resemblance to a human face and to the use of design and color in the decoration and painting of it.

Jasper Johns- Flag Painting
Students will create a painting based on a collage they made which was inspired by the work of Jacob Lawrence. Students learn to translate a collage into an acrylic painting. Students may make a precise copy of their collage or may use it as the inspiration for a more elaborate painting

Fish Print Collage-6th and 7th grades
Students create a collage with an underwater feeling using specialty papers. They then make a fish print on textured tissue paper and glue it over their collage.

Fauve Still Life
Students looked at the works of the Fauves artists- Matisse, Derain, Van Dongen etc. and were to create a painting of a still life using the color sensibilities of that group of artists.

Expressionist Trees-Charcoal Drawing
Students draw the tree they previously constructed out wire, using charcoal and an eraser. The object was to capture the energy, and action of their tree sculpture at the same time creating a balanced and exciting drawing.

Calder Wire Sculptures
This project combines the Art Elements of LINE with FORM. Student will look at the work of Alexander Calder and create an expressive animal with wire. Attention should be paid to expressiveness, motion, balance, and variety of form and fluidity of line.

Pinwheels for Peace
Pinwheels for Peace celebrates the International Day of Peace- September 21st. It is a worldwide Art installation which millions of students from around the world participate in. Each project in 2nd grade through 8th has parameters which need to be met for a grade.

Wire Tree Sculpture
This project combines the Art Elements of LINE with FORM. Student will look at the painting "Tree of Life" by Gustav Klimt and create an expressive tree. Attention should be paid to expressiveness, motion, balance, and variety of form and fluidity of line. This is a two part project with a drawing of their tree being the second part.

3 D Cardboard Sculpture- artist:Aaron Curry
This project challenges eighth graders to abstract an animal shape and put it together as a 3 dimensional sculpture using cardboard and an slit and fit method of construction. They must also use their knowledge of color theory and the elements and principles of art in a manner that is identifiable and makes their sculpture more visually powerful.
