Scientific Classification Task

Individual or Groups of students work collaboratively to design a poster based upon their understanding of the European colonization of the African continent. Each group is to pick a country that was part of the imperialistic movement and after (the first of 1850 and the second of 1914) depicting the trend of colonization throughout the continent Africa as well as the rest of the world during the era of the "New" Imperialism: 1885-1914.

My students will cut and paste together a caterpillar containing 26 circles as the body, not including the head of the caterpillar, over the course of a week. I will then, at the end of my teachings on the alphabet, ask my students to write in the capital and lower case of each letter in the correct order in each blank spot in the body of the caterpillar.
