In this project, students work using moviesounds.net to import audio and create a composition using movie audio sound clips and GarageBand. Students reinforce what they have learned in GarageBand up to this point by creating another composition.

In this project, students work using GarageBand to create new sounds using the Signal processors (EQ, Dynamic and Effect) built into the software. Students reinforce what they have learned in GarageBand up to this point by creating another composition.

Record a song playing a midi-keyboard and using GarageBand application Select a loop from GarageBand collection and adjust the length of the project that there is an introduction, a middle part and the end.

Students will be able to correctly draw or trace a piano keyboard and then correctly label the notes

Compose 4-16 measures melody in C position.

1) Music Video: make a music video of the song. Include Dancing or movement, acting and choose or create sets. Be sure to have at least one student sing along to the song. 2) Design a CD cover for this song, or for another song that is teacher approved. 3) Interview with the Star: Use the internet to find out information about Avril Lavigne. Do a mock radio or MTV interview with Avril. 4) St. Sebastian Idol: Perform the song. Sing the song alone or with a group.

Students will create a rhythm pattern. They will say the rhythm pattern while A) using rhythm syllables and B) clapping the rhythm.

This course is an exposition of introductiory philosophies and materials of music that focus on the classics of Western Music. Special attention will be placed on important influences that traditional, popular and non-Western music have had on the American heritage. Additionally, this course will expand the listening experience through a heightened awareness of many styles of music, including those representing various subcultures of the American population. Materials of music from the earliest times to the Contemporary period emphasizing influyences and contributions by Africans and African Americans will be explored. Through this exposure to many different styles of music students will experience how this idiom, whether traditional or popular, impacts our everyday lives and helps to show the interrelationship between music and other fields of study including science, philosophy, religion, literature, economics, political science, sociology and the fine arts.

In a group of four, students will create a 4 measure rhythm pattern using quarter note, quarter rest, eighth notes, and 16th notes. They will say the rhythm pattern while A) using rhythm syllables and B) clapping the rhythm.

This rubric is designed to assess groups of students on their use of percussion instruments and memorization of lyrics to Engine Engine Number 9 in order to test tempi.
