Book Summary Rubric
You book summary must be composed of 3 paragraphs. 1. Main Character and Setting: 1st paragraph tell the setting and who the main characters are. Don’t just list them; describe them with details! 2. Summary: 2nd paragraph, summarize the plot of the novel. Tell the 5 most important things that happened. 3. Evaluation: 3rd paragraph give your personal opinion of the book. Give it some serious thought. Tell what you liked and didn’t like about the novel and why.

Students will choose something they know how to do and write a procedural paper ("how to") to tell someone else how to do the chosen tasks. Students must include an introduction, materials list, safety info/helpful tip, and a conclusion.

Beginner Speech: One to two minutes Common Core Standard: Presentation of Knowledge and Ideas. Adapt speech to a variety of contexts and tasks demonstrating command of formal English when indicated or appropriate. This is the first in a series of speeches. This speech focuses on presentation basics such as posture, volume, clarity, content and preparedness.
