Art & Design students should be able to successfully critique their own artwork and that of others using terminology that is understandable and relevant to students in the field of art, photography, and design. Student had to choose a subject that inspired them. From an original painting, the student had to establish a color scheme and paint using expressive mark making. Medium is acrylic.

Students will have designated sketchbook time in class. Assignments will be finished as homework prior to grading periods. Students will include assignments and notes in their sketchbooks.

Students will study a 21st Century artist. They will describe their Style, the history of the style, how they have adapted the style to fit their artwork. They will find an artist from the 20th century and compare and contrast their artist and his work with that of the 20th century artist.

Students will create a portrait in the style and techniques of Chuck Close. Students will use their knowledge of Color Theory, color mixing with acrylic paints, and design to produce a 12-step value scale in their chosen color scheme to produce the portrait

~ Learning Goals ~ The students will develop skills in sculpture. The students will learn that sculpture can be made in a variety of ways. The students will learn about different ways paper can be manipulated. Recreate paper sculptures and learn the basics of this versatile medium. Student needs to reflect personality into sculpture.
