Students are to write an essay answering the following prompt: The Dust Bowl of the 1930s was a severe drought suffered across the Great Basin region of the United States. During this time vast areas of land became unusable for farming producing millions of tons of dust and dry dust. Could the devastation suffered during the Dust Bowl have been prevented?

Research the approved topic. Submit one 7-10 page typed paper, double spaced, 12 point font following MLA guidelines. Include a bibliography citing at least 5 resources used researching the paper. (use quotes from all 5)sources should include a news paper, professional journal, your text and two other books. Quotes can not be more than 5 lines. You are encouraged to interject your personal opinion into this paper. Paper will be graded on quality of research to support the topic, effective use of information gained through research, credibility of sources, content, grammar and mechanics, and bibliography.

Students will give an informative speech on a topic of their choice to their peers. They will be assessed on content and delivery.

Students will deliver a speech that is at least 4-6 minutes in length that demonstrates a skill of the student's choosing. The skill must be appropriate for a school setting and demonstrate some originality.

Research the approved topic. Submit 3-5 typed pages of publishing the results of your research. Include a Works Cited page with at least 2 sources used researching the paper. Paper will be graded on quality of research, effective use of information gained through research, credibility of sources, and relevance of included information. Grade will be based on organization, clarity, use of transitions, appropriate voice, correct citation format, grammar, spelling and punctuation.

This rubric will used to judge the holiday wreaths. Consider this a contest the winners will receive a test pass (cannot be used on finals). Test Pass = Automatic 100% on test.

Individual Poster

Students must create an animal cell as pictured on page 7 of text. Student must label all parts of the cell and be prepared to give a presentation describing the cell parts and its function.

Take a picture of nature close-up and have eye catching appeal. Take 10 different shots changing background, angles lighting, focus, etc.
