Rubric for writing a letter, as a slave, during the Colonial Era in American History.

Student must design and engineer a Rube Goldberg structure that utilizes the simple machines to perform a simple everyday task

Students will create a newscast about the Civil War. The will write a script of the newscast,, create posters depicting the scene and present the newscast to the class.The newscast will contain events about the causes of the war, battles, life on the home front and life of a soldier. They will include use of technology as well.

The information criteria will be multiplied by 4. The other categories will be multiplied by 2. The total number of points possible is 60.

Students will write their names in Hieroglyphics on one side of the bookmark. On the other side of the bookmark the students will create their own god/goddess, the will create a new headdress and a description of what they are a god/goddess of

Student will create a miniture musuem exhibit and a professional presentation. They will research a monument or culturally significant artifact. Their research will be compiled into a presentation which will display their knowledge of the civilization represented and the chosen musuem piece.

Solar System Postcard- students researched 9 planets and wrote 3 postcards containing information they learned through research.

Student is to "write" a diary of a fictional person who could have traveled on one of the trails west.This journal or diary from this time period reflects accurately the experiences a person from this time period could/would have experienced. Use knowledge gained from the text and research materials to create the diary entries as you think that person would have experienced. You have literary license to make up appropriate and historically accurate experiences. Must be STUDENT ORIGINAL.
