SLO Course Description: Students should be proficient in managing computer operations and file storage; preparing simple documents and other business communications; accessing and navigating the Internet; searching for information and resources using the Internet; using e-mail to communicate with others and to share files and documents.

Students will repair then rebuild an older computer system with open source or free software. Use with activity guide.

A student will be presented with three computers that have problems related to the startup process.

After you have stripped your computer, submit a presentation of annotated photos of at least 10 components so that you answer the question, "What is inside a computer and what does each part do?". The annotations should clearly address: What is the component in the photo?; What does the part do?; Something interesting about the component. The annotations must be in your own words with references to any external information you have used. Be succinct!

A rubric adpted from Utah Education network that is used to evaluate oral presentations.

Student will configure a computer, switch and router network. The student will connect the system to the WAN router which will provide the clock signal. (100 points total)

The student will create a 3 LAN topology using routers, switches and work stations, create an addressing scheme, and make it completely functional in a 2 hour time frame.
