Physical Education 30

This fitness assessment is designed to test different levels and to act as a "benchmark" for present and future fitness assessments. This test has four (4) sections: the step up test, sit-up test, push up test, and the wall squat.

Examples include: soccer, football, volleyball, floor hockey, basketball, speedball, team handball, softball, ultimate frisbee, kickball, capture the flag, etc.

Students will be assessed on specific skills for the game of kickball for both their application of skills and amount of effort given.

Create a collage, including words and pictures that describe each component of health (physical, mental, social).

Students will be researching a chosen drug in small groups (groups of TWO, with one group of three due to uneven class size), then sharing the collected information about the drug with the class. They will complete a research paper, as well as presentation. The presentation can take any form the students choose (poster, powerpoint, etc) and is open to creativity! The research paper and presentation should include the classification; proper name; street names; methods of consumption; history; effects on physical, mental/emotional, and social health; uses; and demographics (what types of people--some factors to consider would be race, gender, economic status, location, occupation, sexual orientation, etc.) of users. Any additional information will be rewarded with extra credit. The group must also present the class with a short 10 question quiz on their drug.

Create a 5-10 minute video that shows what family means to you. You are required to interview 2 people and capture on video what your family is like. The rest is up to you.

This project requires a current self-assessment of overall health, including their physical, mental/emotional, and social health. Taking their current health status into consideration, students will critique their triangle and note where improvements can be made to create a healthy balance. This assignment includes a written portion as well as a "triangle" visual. The visual should represent YOU, it may have words, pictures, etc to demonstrate your health-present, future or both.
