Rubric for AP Biology in Biotechnology. Students describe the biotech product and discuss the uses, science, ethics, bias, and controversies behind the use of the product. The students will form an opinion based on this information.

Students will complete Trait Sheet for themselves and draw for their Fictitious Mate. They will also draw from both to produce baby phenotype and genotype for 8 traits. They will then construct a "Rock Baby" with these traits.

Students will produce a karyotype of an unknown human. Students will match homologous chromosomes and arrange them in order. Students will place the sex chromosomes last. Student's work is to be neat, well organized and readable. Then, students will analyze the karyotype to determine if the patient has a genetic disorder. Students will write a letter to the parents of the patient discussing the diagnosis.

The first cartoon strip must point out 5 mistakes from the Simpsons video. The second strip must present 5 major concepts. Each strip must have a minimum of 5 frames & a maximum of 10 frames. Use clip art, cut outs, or use a combination of techniques to illustrate. No stick figures, please. Each cartoon must have two paragraphs

Created for assessing a Oral/Visual Presentation regarding Genetic Engineering Because the topics are so diverse, I am not going to say that you have to include this, that, and the other. You are to prepare a 5 minute presentation about your topic. Make sure that you discuss the most relevant, interesting information AND how it relates to genetic engineering as we have been discussing in class.
