Reproduce a Magazine layout on a 8.5" x 11' page. Your image must replace the model on the cover. Be aware of the resolution of the images. You must show evidence that learning the Indesign software has taken place. The layout end result should look just like the original. All copy, text and images should look like the orginal--your layout COULD replace the original.

Use vivid color and an attractive font/letters to make the card appealing to the eye.

Rubric for "Creating Balance Using the Elements of Design"

Which of Old Major’s statements in Chapter 1 can be used to unify the animals on Manor Farm? Rephrase one of Old Major’s statements to encourage the animals to work together for their common cause. Then design a poster for the saying, illustrating it with an original piece of art or a photograph that enhances the call for unity. Present your unit poster to the class, explaining how this phrase will unify the animals on Manor Farm.

In Adobe Illustrator, develop & design an event poster based on one of the vintage travel poster examples given. Assume a print size of letter (8.5"x11".) This is to be a 4 color process (CMYK) job. The vector art should be similar to the original vintage poster that the student has chosen, yet be creative and original. All headline and body copy from the original design must be used, but students should take the opportunity to rearrange their placement and change colors/fonts and other typographical elements in order to take better advantage of design principles. Students must save the design in the correct file format and place in a new InDesign document, then properly package the document for print production.

Design an (8 X 10 vertical) ad that will go in the pages of the magazine students designed earlier in the course (100 points)

This rubric is used to evaluate student InDesign Projects. It measures the various phases and approaches that are necessary in the assessment of the designs.

Develop a magazine article on a topic of your choice. Write at least a 1 page article using proper grammar, punctuation and spelling. Once you have written the article, then using Photoshop and Illustrator, format the text and add graphics to create a pleasing 2 page (18x12") spread for a magazine. Students will tell the story of their topic both visually and with the written word.

Pop Art inspired portrait taken from 21st century popular culture. Using the inspiration of Hockney, Lichtenstein and Warhol, students will transform an icon of popular culture into classic Pop Art imagery
