Watercolor Still Life

Art I Students will take a still life photo of mixed fruit and turn it into a watercolor painting. Each area of the rubric is worth 20 points.

Distorted President Grid Drawing

Using a digital photo, grid the photo in a 1 inch grid. Then create a 1 by 2 inch grid on your drawing paper to transfer your drawing to. After transferring your drawing using the grid, use different values and shade your drawing. You will be graded on incorporating your precision, composition and design, craftsmanship, and effort.

Students will create a self-portrait composed solely of descriptive words. Their self-portrait should contain multiple values and gradation through the use of variation in letter size and density.

Students will study a 21st Century artist. They will describe their Style, the history of the style, how they have adapted the style to fit their artwork. They will find an artist from the 20th century and compare and contrast their artist and his work with that of the 20th century artist.
