5 rubric Giacometti Figure Sculptures       popup preview  
After studying the work of Alberto Giacometti, students will create a work of three-dimensional figure art inspired by Giacometti’s unique, surrealistic, abstract, style. Students will discuss the differences between two- dimensional and three-dimensional art, realistic vs. abstract art, as well as develop their own interpretations of showing the human figure through sculpture.

6 rubric Giacometti Sculptures (Additive)       popup preview  
Students will learn about the style and works of Alberto Giacometti. They will compare and contrast Giacometti's works to that of August Rodin. After learning about additive sculpture, they will create a wire armature that shows some sort of human movent. The armature will be secured into a base with plaster of paris, then students will add both strip and clay mache to create their sculpture. Finally, the sculpture and will be painted, then augmented with a plaque that names the piece.
