The students have been working on all the concepts leading up to adding/subtracting fractions. Comparing fractions with unlike denominators, making equivalent fractions, simplifying fractions, and now adding/subtracting fractions

Journal entries MUST be complete and organized. If you are absent, write the word "absent" across the page for the date you missed. You will need to make-up that entry with a partner on your own time. If your journal is missing/late 2 pts. (see scoring) will be deducted for each missing day. No exceptions. You will still need to complete your journal on a sheet of paper and staple it into journal. If you lose your journal, you are responsible for replacing it.

Students computed the complete multiplication and division fact families for a given multiplication equation. They then constructed a Fact Family Christmas Tree with an ornament to represent each equation in the fact family.

Students will know homework expectations which would include completeness, if the student followed directions, showing of work, and effort given.

Students compared fractions which had different denominators. Using the body parts of the snowman, they had to 1) change denominators to find equivalent fractions; 2) explain how they found equivalent fractions; 3) tell if the first fraction is greater than or less than the other fraction.
