Second Grade Informational Writing Rubric

Independent Activity: Self Collage Create a collage that represents who you are as a person. The collage should be made on a small piece of poster-board, and should comprise at least ¾ of the board. This collage should consist of a wide variety of images that tell who you are and what is important to you. You will present this poster to the class, and it will be displayed on the wall of the classroom. Grades will be given according to the attached rubric.

Students will create and present a family tree. Family tree will include themselves and other members of their immediate family, correctly labeled with name and family identification. The tree should include 3 sentences about 7 different family members.

For Women's History Month, the students will prepare a biography on a person of interest and present to the class.

SL 1.1- I can participate in collaborative conversations with diverse partners about FIRST grade topics and texts with peers and in small groups.

Students will be able to write sentence using proper structure, capitalization, punctuation, spelling, legibility, and verb usage to match the noun. (subject/verb agreement)

Students will create a self portrait of themselves.

The student will use an 8x10 white poster board to create a design related to the topic of Earth Day on how to contribute to keeping the planet clean.

The students will work on their own to put together a poster for display. The poster will contain personal information directly related to the theme of "Gratitude" in a creative and colorful poster.

Draw a picture of one of your favorite thing to do during autumn.

TASK- After conducting a study of butterflies, gather the facts you learned to write informational facts about the butterfly and its habit.

Student created a healthy menu using nutrition labels as their guide.
