Demonstration Speech Rubric
Beginner Speech: One to two minutes Common Core Standard: Presentation of Knowledge and Ideas. Adapt speech to a variety of contexts and tasks demonstrating command of formal English when indicated or appropriate. This is the first in a series of speeches. This speech focuses on presentation basics such as posture, volume, clarity, content and preparedness.

Significant People Characteristics - Skit
Groups will perform skits about a chosen significant person's memorable moment (displaying a good quality through that scene) . Students must prepare a brief skit (3 minutes to 5 minutes) that include phrases and expressions related to their chosen person. Each group will have 45 minutes to write their skits and should be prepared to act out their skits next class period. While the skits are being performed, class members are to observe and listen.

Biographies
The student is to research information about a specific historical figure, and then write and present a biography on this important historical figure. This biography includes information about the person's life, what led them to their chosen career or purpose, what contributions they made to society, interesting or unique facts about the person, and the student's own reflections about the impact that the person and their contributions have on modern times.
