2nd Grade. Objective: SWBAT select and use expressive colors to create mood and to show the personality of a hero (from long ago to the present) in a portrait. CFS: Scholars will know they have met expectations if they have finished all elements of their portrait (head, body,& background).

3rd Grade. Objective: SWBAT Describe elements of art in works of art, emphasizing line, color, shape, form, texture, space, and value. CFS: Scholars will know they have met expectations if they have utilized at least five different lines in the creation of their sea animal.

2nd Grade. Objective: SWBAT identify and name lines seen in nature, the environment, and works of art. CFS: Scholars will know they have met expectations if they have utilized at least three different lines in the creation of their hat with at least two being from our "10 Famous Lines" Worksheet.

3rd Grade. Objective: SWBAT judge own work against a rubric. Discuss what was successful or less successful in his/her work, giving reasons based on the visual characteristics. CFS: Scholars will know they have met expectations if the score they give themselves using the rubric closely matches the score that an independent expert observer would offer.

3rd Grade. Objective: SWBAT identify and describe representational, abstract and non- representational works of art. CFS: Scholars will know they have met expectations if they have drawn at leave 3 leaves and followed the cubism process (analyze object, break it up, reassemble abstractly) in order to create their piece.

2nd Grade. Objective: SWBAT create artworks using art media such as oil pastels, watercolors, and tempera paint. CFS: Scholars will know they have met expectations if they have combined markers and watercolor to create a piece of mixed media art, using the techniques taught.

3rd Grade. Objective: SWBAT identify and describe representational, abstract and non- representational works of art. CFS: Scholars will know they have met expectations if they have glued numerous geometric elements to their paper in primary colors and values to create a nonrepresentational work that is well-balanced and resembles that of Piet Mondrian.

Objective: SWBAT identify and describe how foreground, middleground, and background are used to create the illusion of space. SWBAT show the illusion of space by using a background, foreground and overlapping objects in a two-dimensional painting or drawing. CFS: Scholars will know they have met expectations if they have created a picture with three silhouettes of trees that have distinctly different sizes and are placed in the foreground, middleground, and background.

2nd Grade. Objective: SWBAT create two and three-dimensional expressive artwork that explores abstraction using line, shape, color, and texture. CFS: Scholars will know they have met expectations if they have finished all elements of their abstract Picasso portrait in pencil and colored it in fully.

2nd Grade. Objective: Create visual balance using line and rotational symmetry. CFS: Scholars will know they have met expectations if one side of their work is nearly identical to the other, both in shape and color.

2nd Grade. Objective: SWBAT create form and texture in works of art using paper. CFS: Scholars will know they have met expectations if they have utilized at least three different techniques in the creation of their sculpture that lend to different forms and textures.

3rd Grade. Objective: SWBAT describe how artists use tints and shades in painting. SWBAT mix and apply tempera paints to create tints, shades, and neutral colors. CFS: Scholars will know they have met expectations if they have created an ice cream cone with 4 distinct tints and shades that is neatly cut out and glued to their paper.

3rd Grade. Objective: SWBAT use fibers or other materials to create simple weaving. CFS: Scholars will know they have met expectations if they are created a circle that fills up the entirety of the cardboard and made artistic choices during its creation that lend to the individuality.

2nd Grade. Objective: SWBAT express personal thoughts and feelings using both warm and cool colors. SWBAT perceive and discuss differences in mood created by warm and cool colors. CFS: Scholars will know they have met expectations if their leaves are in the warm color palette and the background is in a cool color palette.

3rd Grade. Objective: SWBAT describe and compare various works of art that have a similar theme and were created in different time periods. CFS: Scholars will know they have met expectations if they have fully completed a four panel background that bears resemblance to pop art and have glued four fully colored emoji faces to it.

3rd Grade. Objective: SWBAT create an imaginative clay sculpture based on an organic form. CFS: Scholars will know they have met expectations if their sculpture bears a likeness to an organic form found in nature and can be identified by a peer as such.

2nd Grade. Objective: SWBAT represent people, animals and buildings with sculptural materials. CFS: Scholars will know they have met expectations if their sculpture bears a likeness to a person, building, or animal and is identifiable by a peer. Additionally, the work should have a sculpture and shadow that somewhat closely match, and the shadow must be completely filled in.
