Students had to design a new cover for the trade book, Chocolate Fever by Robert Kimmel Smith. On the cover they had to give the author's name, title and draw a picture that depicts something about the book. On the inside they were to use the word chocolate or the name of their favorite chocolate bar and write an acrostic poem. On the back of the cover the students were given a choice to write a short summary, a quote from the book or a catchy sentence that would make other students want to read the book.

Students were required to design a folder to accompany their project. The folder had to include a map of the United States with their region of Indians colored and the name of their tribe circled. A brief description of the environment was to be placed below their map. A skin story with a written interpretation was to be given. Also to be included was the type of clothing worn and transportation used by their tribe. The decorated cover was to include the name of the tribe.

Students had to choose either a poster, diorama, or happy meal box project. Included in the project: type of shelter, a typical meal, and two other cultural categories such as art/music, role of men and women, language and communication, games and recreation, famous person or other interesting facts.
