The student will create a short clip using Stop Motion techniques. That movie will be eligible to participate in the Stop Motion Awards 3 ceremony where some judges will choose the best videos. Stop motion (also known as stop frame) is an animation technique to make a physically manipulated object appear to move on its own. The object is moved in small increments between individually photographed frames, creating the illusion of movement when the series of frames is played as a continuous sequence. Dolls with movable joints or clay figures are often used in stop motion for their ease of repositioning. Stop motion animation using plasticine is called clay animation or "clay mation" and there are some other techniques.

You will have the opportunity to apply the knowledge/techniques we have studied in class to produce perfectly exposed portraits that feature creative lighting. You will be required to try Split lighting, Rembrandt lighting and Butterfly lighting and the strongest of the 3 images will be posted for a grade and critique. The rubric features all the essential points you want your final award winning image to feature.
