Math Data Graphing Project
Students will develop their own questions to gather, reocrd, graph and analyze data with 100% accuracy. Students will develop their own questions to use for gathering data from other students' responses. Students will use a variety of graphics to present their results, and they will analyze their results to present a conclusion.

Extreme Weather Channel Project
Student groups will research and discover information about a type of extreme weather: tornado, thunderstorm, hurricane/typhoon, tsunami/tidal wave, or blizzard. Groups will present their information in a WMKR Weather Channel format, editing in iMovie.

Space Exploration Prezi
Individual students will research and discover information about an aspect of space we did not explore extensively in our classroom studies: planets, stars, technology, galaxies, etc. may be topics. Students will provide a minimum of 10 additional facts with detailed explanations about their chosen topic. The final project will be a Prezi presentation that will include all of their information in a logical format with pictures to support their information and a bibliography exported from EasyBib.com. A verbal class presentation will be made, and neatness and timeliness of work will be evaluated.

Native American Tribes Research & Powerpoint
With your partner, research your native tribe and complete a brief research report as a powerpoint presentation which includes all required information.

"Advertising" groups will complete separate Serious Cereal Survey, designing their own nutritious cereal product packaging, commercial, and product presentation. Specific types of propaganda should be used in the design of the box and in the commercial.

Flight Research Project
Students will research the principles of flight, including the concepts of lift, drag, thrust, weight, and Bernoulli’s Principle and how they relate to flight. Students should include a brief history of man’s struggle to find a way to fly, from ancient historical attempts, through Leonardo da Vinci’s research, and the Wright brothers’ success at Kitty Hawk, and on to today’s newest space shuttle.

Cartographer's Challenge--Design an Island
Individual students will define landform terms from the Cartographer's Challenge project sheet prior to beginning the project. Students will develop a theme for their "island," around which they will choose and name AT LEAST 20 landforms, 6 natural resources, 5 large cities or towns, and a capital city. In addition, at least 10 items on the map should be 3-dimensional in design. Maps will also include a title, compass rose, map key, scale, and resources legend. In creating the design, students should take into consideration at what ACTUAL latitude and longitude their island would be found at, so that appropriate landforms and resources are included and in the correct locations. Once a rough draft is complete and all criteria are included, the final project poster can be completed. A verbal class presentation will be made, and neatness and timeliness of work will be evaluated.

NOVEL READING GROUPS' FINAL BOOK REPORT PROJECT/FREE CHOICE
• Your book report should be creative and neat. • The final project TYPE will be your choice. Each project MUST INCLUDE the following items in some form: • A “cover page” with your name, the title of the book, the author’s name, and a reader’s review (YOURS!) of the book, rating it from 1 (really bad) to 10 (LOVED it!). • Illustrations representing the book, either drawn or copied and printed, are included. • Some format representing the main characters, minor characters, main plot line, major conflict and resolution, and settings. • Proper mechanics--NO spelling or grammatical errors; grade-level effort is shown in writing and illustrations. • Project is chosen from acceptable types and is NOT a duplicate of yours OR another student’s in type or content. • Class activity is interactive and involves all students not in the reporting group.

Classification of Animals Project
Students will research two specific animals for classification. (1) One animal will be either a mammal, reptile, amphibian, bird, or fish. (2) The other animal will be a mollusk, insect, arthropod, or worm. Students will research their animals' classifications (KPCOFGS) and present their findings, along with a picture of each animal, on two 8 1/2" x 11" white sheets of paper. Mayan/Aztec/Incan/Olmec--Ancient American Peoples Research
Students will research as groups the Mayan, Aztec, Incan, or Olmec ancient American tribes/peoples. Information should include: (1) Where and when they lived; (2) Housing; (3) Clothing; (4) Food; (5) Religion; and (6) Lifestyle/Social - Culture. Final class presentations should include a poster with AT LEAST three facts per research area and AT LEAST two meaninful class participatory activities. The poster will also include AT LEAST two quality maps that show the territory of the tribe and their relationship to the world. Also included should be AT LEAST 4-8 visual representations/pictures/drawings that add to the knowledge being presented.

Recycled Fashion Show Project
Students design and produce wearable clothing from a minimum of three recycled, reused or repurposed items using an obvious theme. The final presentation will be a "fashion" show with student write-ups describing their clothing, theme and their recyclables. Clothing must include: a hat, shoes, a top and a bottom (pants or skirt) or dress and an accessory item, such as belt, jewelry, gloves, leg warmers, glasses, etc. Items must hang on a hanger and be removable by the wearer.

Students will research their adopted elements and determine the following: abbreviation, atomic number, atomic mass, periodic table group, state at room temperature, boinging point, melting point, whether it exists naturally or is synthetic, its source, whether it is essential to life, its common (and uncommon) uses, any hazards involved in using it, and its history including when, where, and by whom it was discovered. Ecosystem Project
The student/pair of students will investigate an ecosystem. The project will include the climate, location(map), animals and plants (including endangered), and a minimum of one food web in the ecosystem, any human populations, and any environmental concerns and/or efforts toward conservation of species or habitats. The Products will include one Powerpoint project (individual's parts will be posted to the school's Pub file on the server for grading) and a minimum of one visual presentation (brochure, pamphlet, newsletter, activity, movie/PSA/skit with script, etc.).
