Given the story "Mouse Paint" students will show thier understanding of how primary colors can mix to make secondary colors. They will recreate the story using finger prints for color mixing, and assemble paintings into a scroll

Given a presentation about Robert Rauschenberg and mixed media the students are creating an expresionistic work of art based on a theme (social critique) or a juxtaposition of ideas using newspaper and magazine text and images

Given a presentation about Jean Arp's sculptures the students show their understanding of organic shapes by forming a wire hanger into a shape and the coat it with nylons. They will express the form through painting the form

Given a presentation of Art Nouveau stylistic art of Gustav Klimt the Using collage of the magazine character and scratch board the students will learn to recreate a patterned environment describing the emotion / personality on character from current magazines.

Given a presentation on masks around the world students will research a collection of masks on their own. Once identifying their own positive qualities the students will utilize the researched masks to create an original looking mask out of clay visually describing two of their own positive qualities.

The students are researching a person or charicter who share a connection. Digital prints of both the students and charicter will be woven to create one coherent composition. With new knowledge of color the students will decide on color combinations which best suit the connection. To further explain the connection the students will write a creating artist statement which expands the understanding of the relationship pf the students and the charicter they chose.

Given images of home town the students will simplify the images into abstract shapes. Creation of printing plate- arrange shapes into composition then printing a true print and a ghost.

One day exercise. Given the childhood game that Picasso played, the students will draw from props a contour line drawing using one line without picking up their marker.

Given a study of kites and a description of the Japanese tradition of Boy's day the students will study the meaning of the carp. With practice creating pattern the students will reproduce the pattern on the water diffusing paper to create a carp wind sock.

Given examples of popular trading cards, students will create a personal trading card answering 5 statements on the back and then create an image on the front using cut paper and other 2-D media. Last day participate in class guessing game.
