This is a jigsaw activity to help students learn about the modern atomic theory and where it has been dervived from.

Student is to create a newspaper of six pages (8 1/2' x 11" - 3 pages both sides or 6 front side only) that includes both informational text and technologically imported pictures reflecting historical stories, cultural issues, and social information appropriate to this era. You must include at least six subject areas (news, cartoons, editorials, obituaries, social events, book/show reviews, business news, sports, advertisements, etc.) in your newspaper. You have literary license to make up appropriate stories and information to fit the situation, but must be historically accurate. Must be STUDENT ORIGINAL.

This rubric is to be used to assess a student's final copy of an article for the classroom newspaper.

Working in groups, students will research and create a time line of important events in the development and adoption of the metric system.

In an effort to foster camaraderie, students will design a book that tells us about their family, interest, and aspirations.

Students will work cooperatively in a group to write, perform, and video a skit designed to teach the concepts learned in class.

Students will work independently to draw a sketch of a student NOT following the safety rules. Their sketches should include a written caption about the correct procedure.

Students create a song or poem to decribe concepts learned in class.

Each tab describes a particular concept related to the theme.

Students will create a bulletin board display about a current topic in science. Topic choice is up to the student and does not have to relate to a topic currently being discussed in class.
