Love is Blind

LOVE IS BLIND   (an Alphabet Poem)
                        By: Ashley Hume

Acting as if you ever cared.
Being there for you when you never were there.
Caring for you from the start.
Daring to let you into my heart.
Everything about you, I would long to see.
Forgetting how you were so wrong for me.
Grinning happily when I saw you each day.
Hoping that you wouldn’t walk away.
Ignoring the fact that you turned your back.
Joking like, “He always does that.”
Kissing you passionately never left my mind.
Leaving all of my other thoughts behind.
Missing the way we used to be.
Not noticing how you were mistreating me.
Openly expressing my feelings for you.
Pretending the words you replied were true.
Quite a few times I thought about leaving.
Reminding myself how you were deceiving.
Something always held me back and wouldn’t let me go.
Thinking of how one day our love would grow.
Used, hurt and neglected by you.
Violated and rejected, I knew we were through.
Wishing I had left a long time ago.
eXcepting the fact that I would now be alone.
Yearning to hold you, one last time...
realiZing now that LOVE IS BLIND.
